DescriptionRecto: Adobe house with two people on their knees and one on top of a ladder harvesting chili.
Verso: An outdoor scene of a woman in front of an adobe house holding the hands of a small child who appears to be learning to walk. The sky is a deep purple-blue highlighting the large blossoming tree that dominates the center of the painting. In the background is an “A” framed house with a long porch along one side. A pair of little children sits by the large central tree while the adobe buildings on the right cast deep purple shadows on the ground.

On 2/10/15 the acidic cardboard backing protecting the back of the painting was removed in order to replace it with a new archival backing. Upon removal of the acidic cardboard it was discovered that a complete additional intact painting was on the verso of the stretched piece. See images for details.
