Description
Artist Robert Ryman began painting in the 1950s. His work is associated with minimal and conceptual art. In 2010 Ryman wrote that he was not a “picture painter,” asserting the idea that his work does not try to create illusion but rather present reality. The pencil, ink, and chalk used to make this drawing are facts used to map the physical presences of the drawing within the space that it is occupying.
