eMuseum Notes
Gail Rieke moved to New Mexico in 1970. Soon after, she went to the State Fair and saw a Navajo woman weaving on a loom and decided she wanted to learn to weave. She learned primarily from Noel Bennett (also a Santa Fe artist) and Bennett's book Navajo Weaving Way. Shining Way was on the cover of an issue of Fiber Arts magazine in the late 1970s or early 1980s.
