Artist Daniel Kaufmann expertly explores the composition of rooms and living spaces in his colorful and dynamic photography. Some are playful, digitally constructed images that incorporate aspects of Kaufmann’s personal home alongside objects from home-furnishing catalogs to create a fanciful or cartoon-like room environment. Others are aerial photographs, representative of maps or architectural drawings which juxtapose the precise reality of the scene, with the distortion of the photographic lens. But in all of his work, like Room 7, an aerial view of a child’s bedroom, Kaufmann reveals the identity of the rooms’ absent inhabitants through detail and clever exposure.
