DescriptionBroad view from above of fairly featureless desert landscape with a line bisecting the landscape/composition.eMuseum Notes
The line bisecting this image is a wall separating two ranches in the Chihuahuan desert near the border between the United States and Mexico. Both sides show the effect of grazing on the native environment by cattle that are not indigenous to the region. The artist nonetheless finds beauty in this scene and, despite the cost to the landscape, admires the traditions and tenacity of the ranch families who eke out a living in the desert.
