eMuseum Notes
Hideo Matsumoto was one of the early practitioners in Japan of a ceramic art that was less about function and more about form. Cellular Plateau B is an example of a non-vessel vessel that acts as an enclosure rather than an open form. Matsumoto conceives of the cellular perspective – and the workings of the natural world in general – as an architectural structure.
