Text Entries
As with all of Constance DeJong’s work, Nitrate Painting XV rigorously explores the myriad ways in which the artist can work in copper. This includes experiments with its interaction with light, its use as line and shadow, its potential for sculpture, and its use as a means of painting with chemicals. The very title of Nitrate Painting XV indicates the artist’s desire to push the limit of what painting is, on a surface that is three-dimensional and with materials not often thought of as “painterly.”
