eMuseum Notes
Originally made for the artist’s Master’s of Fine Arts exhibition at the University of New Mexico in 1996, this image shows his early use of video-captured images and computer drawing, which was then at a very rudimentary stage. The series, “Dog God,” also explores the flexibility and confusions of the English language, which contain many mirror words or reverse palindromes. In this case the word “star” turns into “rats,”a reference to the artist’s Jewish relatives in Europe who were subject to persecution during World War II.
