Although Jesus Moroles was born in Texas and continues to live there, for many years he has had a presence in New Mexico, even establishing a studio in Cerrillos, New Mexico. Internationally known for his granite sculptures, his work includes functional objects such as this bench. The bench was gifted to the museum for one of its sculpture gardens, where it is sited near a Moroles sculpture so that visitors may enjoy the artwork from the comfort of one of the artist’s benches.
