eMuseum Notes
Celia Rumsey was a longtime Santa Fe artist and patron whose work was largely autobiographical in nature. Her best known works were about coping with a chronic illness. At the same time, Rumsey had a large body of work on the landscape, including abstract images from a bird’s-eye view such as this monoprint. This work has resonance with the artist’s medical imagery in that it could as easily be a microscopic view of the body as an aerial view of the landscape.
