Description
Harmony Hammond is an abstract artist, curator, author and activist. Her nearly monochromatic paintings are heavy with textural elements. Burlap, rags, linoleum, straw, straps, grommets and ropes have all, at different times, found a place in Hammond’s paintings. The modeled surface and strapping on the picture plane suggests encasement and restraint.
