DescriptionThe left panel features an Aboriginal man at the lower right whose face, hair and body are painted in traditional makeup. To the left is a tourist holding binoculars and a goanna (monitor) lizard hanging on a tree trunk. In the background is a large circular mesa which is surrounded by grassland and a traditionally dress Aboriginal man holding a walking stick.
The center panel features the same imagery as the left panel but is toned with a red hue giving all features a red tint. The binoculars have slipped from the tourist's hands are floating in space.
The right panel features the same landscape as the left and center panels but is devoid of human life and color. Only the goanna remains hanging to the tree at the left. The image has an overall gray tone.
Text Entries
The triptych arrived to the museum framed in three separate frames. After the object was accessioned, it was decided by the Curator (Kate Ware) not to keep the prints framed. The frames were not kept as the Curator felt the photographs would not be exhibited in those types of frames. The backing board of the frames included a gallery label that was removed prior to throwing the backing away. The labels are no in the accession file.
