DescriptionA domestic scene set in the courtyard of a typical New Mexico adobe home; Mountains, rain showers and sunset in the background. Verso: An unfinished painting depicting two women walking toward the viewer and away from a quaint village. There are two white houses in the left background and a gray painted house directly behind the women. Next to the women are clusters of blooming tulip like plants.
Text Entries
The foam core backing that was attached to the frame when the object was received was removed prior to the painting going out on exhibition in early 2016.The foam core backing included several past exhibition and gallery labels, which were removed from it. The removed labels can be found in the Accession file in the Registrar's office.
An unfinished painting can be found on the verso of East at Sunset. The unfinished painting is now covered in Plexiglas so that it can be visibly seen when the painting is not on display. This painting is an outdoor scene with two women in 1920's period dress walking towards the viewer. The landscape appears to be an unknown New England town.
