Description
Alberto Morales Jimenez. Translation: “…so why don't you people get together and take back the land they have taken from you?”—Emiliano Zapata asked his father when he was young. “No son—his father replied to the future caudillo (leader)—against the control of the hacienda (large agricultural estate) landowners nothing can be done.” In response, Emiliano would say—“Nothing can be done? You'll see. When I grow up I'll recover the lands they've taken from us.” His father's words had a lasting impression in the young man's mind. Translated by Aída Wester, Intern 2017.
