Díaz tuvo la ingenuidad de querer combatir a los revolucionarios adictos al
Plan de San Luis Potosí, desde una mesa colocada en la terraza del Castillo de
Chapultepec. Tal es la verdad. Colocó un mapa y con soldaditos de plomo quería
indicar los movimientos que sus tropas deberían hacer para derrotar al
enemigo. El resultado de su estrategia
fue que los revolucionarios cayeron sobre Ciudad Juárez y él tuvo que salir
apuradamente hacia Europa, de donde no volvió jamás. Alberto Morales Jimenez.
Translation: Simple minded Porfirio Díaz thought he could fight the revolutionary enthusiasts of the Plan de San Luis Potosí (Plan of San Luis Potosí) while seated at a table on the terrace of the Castle of Chapultepec. Such is the truth. He used a map with tiny lead soldiers to coordinate troop movements needed to defeat the enemy. As a result of his strategy the insurgents captured Ciudad Juárez and he had to hurriedly leave to Europe, from where he would never return. Translated by Aída Wester, Intern 2017.
