Plate 45: La intervención Yanqui, 21 de abril de 1914 (from the portfolio Estampas de la Revolución Mexicana)

Translation: Without motive and maintaining its policy of intervention the U. S. Government ordered the mobilization of the Marine Corps, who invaded the Port of Veracruz in late April 1914.  Men, women, and children of all social classes were involved in the defense of the port. Don Venustiano Carranza, the Commander in Chief of the Revolution came out in defense of national sovereignty and sent glowering letters to the United States Department of State.
