Historical text from the accompanying booklet reads as: Durante los días angustiosos de 1915, la población civil de la ciudad de México sufrió la escasez de satisfactores económicos. Para resolver este grave problema, el Gobierno constitucionalista repartió víveres entre los sectores sociales mayormente necesitados. Fue necesario imponer penas muy graves a los ocultadores y acaparadores de mercancías. Posteriormente, con el triunfo de los hombres afiliados al Constitucionalismo, la situación fue normalizándose poco a poco. Alberto Morales Jimenez.
Translation: During the agonizing days of 1915, the civilian population of Mexico City suffered a shortage of basic staples. To resolve this serious problem the Constitucionalista (Constitutionalist) government distributed food in the neediest areas. It became necessary to impose severe penalties to withholders and hoarders of goods. After the Constitucionalista (Constitutionalist) victory the situation slowly returned to normal.
