Text Entries
This pieces is from a series of photograms (cameraless photographs) of masks that the artist made when she was housesitting for her teacher Holly Roberts. Intrigued by the variety of faces she found on the walls of the house, Tumer takes them further from their original context in the pictures, offering just the bare essentials of a face but a strong, resonating power in these richly mysterious prints.
The photograph is a unique photogram made with a mask that the artist found at the home of her teacher and mentor Holly Roberts in Corrales, New Mexico, while she was housesitting in 1994.
