DescriptionA vertical composition with the outline of a mask at center, showing its irregular ovoid shape, two almond-shaped eyes, and an irregular mouth. Wispy shapes at the top and bottom of the mask suggest some sort of hair or fiber.eMuseum Notes
This
pieces is from a series of photograms (cameraless photographs) of masks that
the artist made when she was housesitting for her teacher Holly Roberts.
Intrigued by the variety of faces she found on the walls of the house, Tumer
takes them further from their original context in the pictures, offering just the
bare essentials of a face but a strong, resonating power in these richly
mysterious prints.
