DescriptionYoung woman slouching in hard wooden chair at center of composition. She is wearing a light-colored teddy with spaghetti straps, ballet-type slippers that tie in a bow around the ankle, and earrings. Balanced on her right thigh is a single cherry with stem. Behind her is a painted backdrop and to her right is a round, framed mirror that reflects her arm and the artist. On the floor are articles including a plate of cherries and a discarded garment.eMuseum Notes
Known
for his work with nude models in the studio, Lazorik started working more
collaboratively with his subjects in the 1970s and 1980s by having his models
participate in decision making during the photo shoot. This image of a ripe
young woman lounging in her lingerie is one of two images in the collection
from his session with Louise Jay and her mother Kari, titled “Mother, Daughter,
Photographer Collaborative.” Included is a self-portrait of the photographer,
whose presence is acknowledge by his image in the mirror.
