Text Entries
With the modest elements of this still life, Hill reminds us that simple moments of grace and beauty can be found in everyday life.
The date range of 1960s-1970s is based on the date of the donation by the artist to Norman Ives. Efforts to contact the artist for more specific information were unsuccessful.

Hill studied at Yale University and then taught graphic design and photograph there for twenty years. Among his dynamic group of colleagues were Herbert Matter, Norman Seaton Ives, and Walker Evans. Evans selected Hill as the executor of his estate.
