Description
Noggle had a close relationship with her family. Her mother, Agnes, lived in Santa Fe with the artist’s sister Mary, Mary’s husband Chester, and their daughter Dale. This picture of Anne and Mary was made in Agnes’ room not long after her death. The two sisters are posed in a very personal space, surrounded by their mother’s belongings. It is a final family portrait, with the mirror in Mary’s hand both a momento and a reminder of the brevity of human life.
