Inspired by the existentialist writings of authors including Charles Bukowski and Raymond Carver, the artist is interested in creating expressive scenarios that explore the human condition in a world of isolation and ambiguity. In this image from a series of portraits of families, an everyday gathering in the backyard is portrayed as a fantastical event.
