John Garrett is a significant contemporary New Mexico artist, born in the southern part of the state and who later lived in Taos and Albuquerque after his studies in California.  His work is influenced by an interest in Native American Arts of the region, particularly the tools, systems, and materials involved in weaving.  He uses his interest in traditional techniques to engaged contemporary sculptural materials and concepts.
