DescriptionA photograph mounted on a cabinet card showing the profile of a woman's head and shoulders. Her hair is wavy and pulled into a braided bun at the back of her head with a few ringlets on her forehead. The clothing she is wearing features lace around the neckline and in two vertical bands coming down from the shoulders. Two buttons are visible and on her left shoulder is a large, flat bow. Covering the area around her nose is a honeycomb and surrounding it is an array of bees, covering most of her left neck, cheek, and ear area.

Roybal found materials and inspiration for some of her works at flea markets and antique shops, where she may have acquired the cabinet card that she incorporated into this composition. The photograph, mounted as a cabinet card, is by Caleb Lysander Howe, who purchased and then operated a photography studio on Main Street in Brattleboro, Vermont, in 1856. In 1880 his son John C. Howe joined the business, and the studio became known as C.L. Howe & Son. Because this cabinet card is printed with the sole name of Howe, it was made by C.L. Howe during his sole proprietorship between 1856 and 1880.
