Bakos painted Rito de los Frijoles (one of his earliest paintings of the area) around 1921-22 based on his impressions gathered while he and fellow Buffalo native, Walter Mruk, worked at Rito for the U.S. Forest Service for $2.00 a day during 1920-21. – Stan Cuba.
