The donors are Mary Pease, (1918-2004), the artist's elder sister and only sibling and her husband Chester Pease, (1914-1978).

The subject is probably a machine spewing gravel out of a chute, located along the highway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The sky is a striking element in the image and may have been what inspired the picture.

As was fashionable at the time, Noggle filed the edges of her negative carrier to create a black border around her prints, which she commonly used from the 1960's to the mid-1970's.
