According to Noggle's longtime friend and studio assistant Jim Holbrook, the subjects are Richard Gussler and Nancy Barry. The photograph was taken outside Noggle's house at 4204 Mesa Verde, S.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico. Gussler was Noggle's next-door neighbor, who in 1973 invited Holbrook to come to Albuquerque to meet Noggle, since he was interested in photography. Barry was Noggle's girlfriend at the time. Noggle's Volkswagen Beetle is parked in the driveway and her Dachshund stands next to Barry.

The donors are Mary Pease, (1918-2004), the artist's elder sister and only sibling and her husband Chester Pease, (1914-1978).
