eMuseum Notes
As a ceramist, Rick Dillingham’s methods were unusual and informed by his interest in pueblo pottery and his time spent restoring pottery at the Laboratory of Anthropology in Santa Fe. The artist used traditional methods of building and burnishing his ceramic vessels, which he would then carefully fire and shatter. After the breakage these individual shards would be individually adorned and carefully reassembled back into a whole vessel.
