DescriptionBearded man in top hat standing by window at left of room; large dog leaping up with paws on man’s chest; nude female model in white socks standing on elevated chess board at center; projection of man’s face at righteMuseum Notes
The nude model at the center of the picture maintains her serenity in the midst of this chaotic studio scene. A man in a top hat surreptitiously observes her from the cover of a black screen, while his twin is backed against the window by a friendly dog. It is an unsettling scene in which the figures share a small space but do not interact with one another.
