DescriptionThree-fourths, almost frontal view of a woman wearing a long-sleeved pullover with a collar over a t-shirt with colored banding at the neckline. She looks at the camera, has partial bangs, and has a slight smile on her face. Behind her is another view of her, showing her body from shoulder to mid-though in motion.eMuseum Notes
This
image from early in the career of the accomplished portrait photographer
Mariana Cook shows her practicing her skills on another well-known portrait
photographer, Anne Noggle. Cook says she took the picture while participating
in the Ansel Adams Workshops in Yosemite in June of 1979, which Adams had
instructed her to attend. In addition to Noggle, Cook also photographed the
other teachers, including John Sexton, Al Halberstadt, Al Weber, and Barbara
Crane, but Noggle’s portrait must have been the best as it is the only one the
artist chose to print.
