BiographyRobert Capa is considered one of the premiere war photographers of the 20th century. He emigrated to Paris in 1933, and then went to Spain to cover the Spanish Civil War. His image "Death of Spanish Loyalist," which shows a soldier falling at the moment of being struck by a bullet, made his reputation. He traveled to China, Italy, Germany, France, and Israel, where he took numerous photographs of World War II combat for "Life" magazine. He was fatally injured in Vietnam in 1954. (AAT 2007)
