Diego RomeroAmerican, Cochiti, born 1964

Diego Romero grew up in Berkeley, California but the summers he spent with his paternal grandparents at Cochiti Pueblo left a lasting impression; he now lives in the house that was his grandfather’s. Romero studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Otis Parsons School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts degree from University of California, Los Angeles. The dual influences of his background are visible in the artwork that he makes. Commentary on pop culture, art history and social issues all find a place on his ceramic vessels that are built using the traditional coil method of construction. (Scully, 2017).
