American, born 1975
BiographyNicola López is a New Mexico-born artist now working in Brooklyn, who has gained a national reputation for her innovative use of printmaking techniques, most often through her use of layering and transparency, printing on materials such as mylar, and her installations that bring three-dimensionality to the “print.” Most prominently, she was invited to create a site-specific environment for the Guggenheim Museum in 2011 that occupied the museum’s rotunda.
