Pat Steir

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Pat Steir is an American painter and printmaker. She began her career as an illustrator and graphic designer and counts among her influences John Cage and Agnes Martin. The artist visited Martin in New Mexico every year for the last three decades of Martin’s life. Steir’s work has been exhibited worldwide and is held in the collections of many institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.
