BiographySilvia Levenson was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She fled the military dictatorship of Gen. Jorge Rafaél Videla, moving to Italy with her husband and children in 1981. Her experiences during this period and subsequent years inform the political and societal narratives of her work. Her works and installations are included in the permanent collections of numerous museums including: : Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Corning Museum of Glass, NY, Tikanoja Art Museum,Vaasa, Finlandia, among others. Since 1996 she has been awarded artist residencies and prizes, and invited as guest lecturer and presenter for several institutions and organizations including: Berlin Glass; Australian University, Canberra, AU; Sunderland University, UK; “Next 100 years”, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland; BeCon, Crossover, Portland, OR;Warm Glass Prize. Bristol UK; Finalist , Bombay Saphire Prize; Corning Museum of Glass, USA; Rakow Commission Award Recipient, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NW; Bullseye Co. USA; and Musée Atelier de Verre, Sars Poteries, France, among others.
