Benjamin MontagueAmerican, born 1970

Benjamin Montague is an Assistant Professor at Wright State University, where he teaches photography and art education. He received his MFA in Photography from the University of Delaware (2004) and his BA in Art History and Photography from Marlboro College (1993). He has exhibited his work along the East Coast as well as in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he is currently represented by Chiaroscuro Gallery. He has won several grants, most recently an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council. Among his photographic series are bodies of work about insects, images of conflict, and lunch trash, all of which are unified by an interest in examining what is beneath the surface or beyond the first glance of his subject matter.
