BiographyIn the 1930s Lucy Lewis (Acoma Pueblo) began appropriating isomeric design elements from ancestral Pueblo pottery sherds found in the broad area from Acoma to Chaco Canyon. These appropriations of isomeric design elements became an important aspect of Pueblo pottery making during the twentieth century. Her mature work synthesizes contemporary, historic, and prehistoric source into a unified, personal aesthetic. (Traugott 2013)
