Born in Chinle, Arizona, Mihio Manus (Dine’/Cherokee/Omaha) was a fan punk and hardcore music as a young man, which inspired him to learn about photography so he could take pictures of bands and the local music scene. He studied at Northern Arizona University and earned a B.S. in photography with a minor in photojournalism. While living in Flagstaff, he covered the local music scene for the entertainment weekly “Flag Live.” He also coordinated the Photo Lab at NAU where he served as a part-time instructor. He subsequently worked for the “Arizona Daily Sun,” as editor of the “Gila River Indian News,” and as managing editor for the “Hopi Tutuveni.” He lives in Leupp, Arizona, with his wife and three children.
