Anja IsphordingGerman, born 1964

Isphording is best known for her small-scale glass works distinguished by their rich, saturated colors and shapes that make ambiguous reference to biological forms in nature such as molecular structures, honeycombs or coral reefs. She studied in Germany and the Czech Republic and in the late 1980’s established her own glass workshop in Helminghausen, Germany. Isphording worked as instructor for glass engraving in the summer school Bild-Werk, Franeau and received scholarship at Pilchuck Summer, Stanwood, Washington in ’98 & ’99. In 2000 she moved to Vancouver, Canada and established her own workshop. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Kunstmuseum Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf, Germany, Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia, and the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin, Germany as well as other public institutions.
