Yuri Brodsky started his career as a photographer in 1978 in a local amateur photo club. Since 1993 he has had numerous solo and group shows in Europe, the USA, Japan and Russia. From 1993 to 1998 he was a lecturer on Photography Art and Technique at the Dnipropetrovsk State University. Brodsky’s work is considered part of the “Dnipropetrovsk school” of photography (1970s-80s)that includes Alexander Feldman, Mark Milov, Stanislav Polonsky and Semen Prosyak. Their work was featured curator Yevgeny Berezner’s 1989 exhibition “150 Years of Photography” at the Moscow Soros Center for Contemporary Art and in Berezner’s 1998 exhibition Dnipropetrovsk School of Photography: Twenty Years Later.” His work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Japan, Russia, and the U.S.A. and are in museum and university collections in the USA, France, and Sweden, among others. He relocated to Germany around 2003 and currently lives and works in Cologne.
