Garo Z. Antreasian

American, 1922 - 2018
BiographyGaro Antreasian left the Herron School of Art and Design to join the University of New Mexico’s Department of Art and Art History in 1964. The first technical director and master printer for the Tamarind Lithographic Workshop, he was involved in bringing the workshop to New Mexico in 1970 where he became co-director of the newly established Tamarind Institute. In 1971 he co-authored with Clinton Adams, The Tamarind Book of Lithography: Art and Techniques. Their comprehensive text, updated over the years, is still considered the definitive reference guide for the field of lithography. Antreasian’s contributions to the field of collaborative printmaking are considerable. As an artist he continues, in his late nineties, to paint and make lithographs. (Scully, 2017).
