eMuseum Notes
This portrait is one of two known images Adams made of the young American artist Henwar Rodakiewicz (1903-1976) during a visit to New Mexico in [1929]. These are likely the only extant prints. Rodakiewicz was from the eastern United States, where he attended Harvard University, and in 1927 he married the poet Marie Tudor Garland; the couple lived at the H&M (Henwar and Marie) Ranch in Alcalde, New Mexico, where they entertained friends and visiting artists, including Georgia O’Keeffe and Adams.
