DescriptionImage of a katchinaeMuseum Notes
Best known for his work in serigraphy, Louie Ewing worked in a variety of media. He arrived in Santa Fe in 1935 and spent the majority of his career in New Mexico. This watercolor of a Hopi bird katsina relates closely to a serigraph he made for wider distribution. The figure may represent the parrot katsina, although the decoration differs from traditional iconography.
