eMuseum Notes
Ernest Blumenschein made regular visits to Taos from 1898 to 1920, when he decided to settle there permanently. In November 1902, he returned to Taos and stayed into 1903. This watercolor sketch of Taos Pueblo would have been among his earliest detailed studies of the Pueblo and was intended to capture salient details of the adobe buildings and their context. In the lower left, a horno or rounded oven is seen from the back.
