eMuseum Notes
This dynamic composition of diagonal lines and clouds of smoke or steam shows an industrial logging operation in Ketchikan, Alaska. The artist photographed extensively in southeastern Alaska in the 1980s, hoping to influence the United States Congress to pass legislation to protect the Tongass rainforest, now the largest national forest in the country at around 17 million acres, administered by Forest Services in Ketchikan.
