DescriptionFairly monochromatic landscape with structure shading a picnic table on gravel. Landscape in background with numerous pump jacks and electrical lines.eMuseum Notes
This common roadside oasis in southeastern New Mexico offers pleasing geometry and a bit of shade but is not very inviting otherwise. It does provide an excellent view of the region’s principal industry, oil, which is being drawn up from the ground by hammer-shaped pump jacks. The picture is from a body of work that examines the natural and man-made landscape of West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.
