Though
Mruk is best known for his southwestern landscapes, this painting is an
excellent example of his incorporation of avant-garde modernist forms into a
still life.
Walter Mruk completed this still life of a geranium near the end of his residency in Santa Fe. Mruk favored the viscosity of watercolor and used the properties of the medium to create a subtle abstraction of forms.
