DescriptionNight view of a gasoline service station with lighted canopy. Underneath are gasoline pumps and above the canopy is the gas station name “Mobil” in blue letters with red “o” and a flying horse logo at right, outlined in red. Parked at the edge of the pavement at the right margin is a two-tone jeep-like vehicle with its hood up and hooked up to a rounded silver campter. White fence visible beside trailer and moutains faint in deep background.eMuseum Notes
Jeff Brouws describes himself as a “visual anthropologist” who uses his camera to explore the American highway and how it reflects our changing culture. This image includes the now-iconic Jeep and vintage Airstream camper, both cast in the fluorescent glow of a gas station canopy, complete with a neon sign alongside an updated logo.
