Oswaldo Maciá’s Chromatographia serve as conceptual studies for his 2023 sound sculpture, El Cruce. The studies visualize sound as different colors, which blend to create intermediary colors much in the way that sounds interact to produce a different aural experience. El Cruce, which can be translated in English as “the cross” or “the crossing,” engages with the nature of intersections between animals, peoples, and cultures.
